Budget Island Hopping Land BasedTour

Shark Sky

Itinerary 5 days / 4 nights*

Day 1: SAN CRISTOBAL
Spend the morning getting settled into your hotel. After your authentically Ecuadorian lunch, you will set out to Loberia Beach, where you can enjoy some of the best snorkeling. Swim with all manner of marine life, like sea turtles, rays, sea lions, and a rainbow of tropical fish. If you want to see more of the beautiful landscape, consider a hike along the cliffs, where you will find a marvelous number of land and sea birds. Dinner is at the hotel.

Day 2: FLOREANA
Today we will rise bright and early to travel to Floreana Island, where you will have more opportunities to snorkel and a chance to visit Peace Asylum, where the first inhabitants of the islands set up. Before a lunch in the village of Velasco Ibarra, your guide will tell you more about the history of the islands. The next stop is Isabela Island, the largest of the Galapagos chain and renowned for its white sand beaches. This is also where you will visit Flamingo Lagoon, where the largest flock of flamingoes in the archipelago resides.

Day 3: ISABELA by land or by sea.
You have two options today: a hike through the volcanoes, visiting the Sierra Negra and Chico Volcano; or a trek through the Cabo Rosa Tunnels. The Sierra Negra holds the title of second largest volcanic crater in the world, at six miles in diameter and 300 feet deep. Explore the stunning vistas from atop the volcano and head back down for snorkeling or swimming at Concha de Perla later in the day.

If you choose to take a two hour boat ride to the Cabo Rosa Tunnels, you will get a chance to see some amazing geological formations; namely the tunnels that crawl under and over the sea level. Here you can take advantage of awesome snorkeling opportunities and even see the Galapagos penguin and the seasonally active blue-footed boobies.

Day 4: ISABELA - SANTA CRUZ
The morning will consist of a visit to Las Tintoreras, where you will see all sorts of creatures, like sea lions, sharks, and the only sea-going lizard, the marine iguana. After you have had plenty of time to snorkel and hike here, we will head back to to Santa Cruz and go to Tortuga Bay, where you will be able to swim one last time in the blue waters of the Galapagos and witness an enormous iguana colony.

Day 5: BALTRA
On the way to the Baltra airport, we will pass through a lava tunnel. Then you will board your plane and head back to Guayaquil or Quito in mainland Ecuador. *Itinerary subject to change

Day 6 & 7: UNINHABITED ISLAND
One of the factors that help maintain the Galapagos Islands in such pristine condition is the fact that most of the islands are uninhabited. During days 6 & 7, you will have a chance to explore some of these islands, like Bartholomew, Santa Fe, Seymour, or Plazas. Each island has its own unique endemic wildlife, and opportunities to snorkel, hike, and navigate around the island. Lunch is provided as you get to know the less populous face of the archipelago. You will arrive back at your hotel in time for dinner and a relaxing evening.

Day 8: BALTRA
On the way to the Baltra airport, we will pass through a lava tunnel. Then you will board your plane and head back to Guayaquil or Quito in mainland Ecuador.

Galapagos Island Hopping Reviews

Hi Maria,

Yes we had a wonderful time in Ecuador! Everything went well and it was nice to connect with some people we had met last time. It seems as though Isabela is getting a little more crowded but it is still very quaint. The next time we go we might think about visiting Floreana. I hope you are well and enjoying nice weather!

All my best,

Jeff

Maria,

We had a great trip. Everything you planned went well. Good communication about all the pick ups and times. As you may have heard the flight to Coca got canceled just as we were picked up to go to the airport. But the bus ride was interesting the lunch good and we arrived in time to watch gold panning and there really was gold! The special guide arrived the next afternoon thanks to your help. He was great. I did see the one monkey species I had hoped to see, but as all the information stated this is not the best place to see monkeys. The kids were probably happier here though with all the activities including making chocolate. They liked the waterfall best. Pat and Douglas the founder had a lot to talk about because she has a similar project in Madagascar.

All the best to you in the New Year.

Best regards, Noel
