Itinerary 4 days / 3 nights*
Day 1 Quito-Santa Cruz Island
Airport assistance to take flight to Galapagos. Arrive Baltra Airport. Reception and transfer Ferry crossing to Santa Cruz Island (10 minride). Arrive to Santa Cruz Island. Stop in highlands of Santa Cruz where you will visit a Giant Tortoise Reserve for an easy hike to observe to Giant Tortoises in their natural habitat. Transfer to Casa Natura hotel and check in. In the afternoon visit to The Charles Darwin Research Station you'll learn first hand of the conservation and research efforts in the Galapagos Islands. See the tortoise hatchlings and breeding programs which are saving several races of tortoises from extinction. Also, the opportunity to see the giant Galapagos tortoises. Overnight in Puerto Ayora.
Day 2 Santa Cruz: Charles Darwin Station & Tortuga Bay
Breakfast. Transfer to the port to take boat for a shared daily tour to Seymour, Plazas Island, Floreana, Santa Fe, or Daphne (according availability). In the afternoon transfer to the hotel. Dinner in Puerto Ayora and overnight. (B, L)
North Seymour Island:
Here we will visit a circular trail leading through some of the largest and most active seabirds breeding colonies in the islands. Magnificent frigate birds and blue footed boobies are the main attractions.
Plazas:
These two small islands are just off the east coast of Santa Cruz. A dry landing on a jetty brings you to an opuntia cactus forest where there are many land iguanas. A one km trail circuit leads visitors through sea lion colonies and along a cliff top walk where swallow – tailed gulls and other species nest.
Floreana:
At Highlands you could see Galapagos tortoise in semi-natural habitat, caves used by pirates years ago, the Home for Peace (viewpoint), and Wittmer old habitat of one of the earliest inhabitants of the island. Also watch out as the freshwater Inhabitants of this island and will have the opportunity to prove that. Here is possible to observe penguins, sharks, sea lions, blue footed boobies, gulls, bifurcated tail, frigates, marine iguanas, tropical birds, all this accompanied by a beautiful landscape.
In the afternoon transfer to the hotel. Dinner in Puerto Ayora and overnight. (B, L)
Day 3 Santa Cruz Island / Tortuga Bay
After breakfast, we visit Tortuga Bay, a wonderful beach: One hour walk (five km) west from Puerto Ayora on a marked and cobbled path. The path is good for bird watching; it is easy to spot several species of finches as you walk along the path. The white sand beach is considered by many the nicest of the archipelago. It name comes from the sea turtles that go there to lay their eggs. Other species can be found, including pelicans, flamingos and marine iguanas. Lunch in Puerto Ayora. Afternoon in the beach and free time. (B, L)
Day 4 Transfer out: Santa Cruz - Quito
Breakfast and Transfer out Baltra's airport. Stop in Highlands where we will visit the Gemelos, two collapsed craters that remind us of the volcanic origins of the archipelago. Flight black to mainland for connections or visit Ecuador. Arrive to Quito.
