Combined Galapagos Land Tour

 

Day 1: Flight Baltra- Isabela Island (L-D)

Upon arrival, our representative will be waiting for you at the airport to assist you in everything you need. In the afternoon, we go 14 km from Puerto Villamil to Sucre’s Cave. Here, we’ll go for a walk and see a bit of the vegetation and some typical plants. Reach Mango viewpoint, and enjoy the amazing view of the southern part of Isabela Island while in the company of finches. We’ll head back to Scalesia Lodge to rest and prepare for the next day.

Day 2: Volcan Sierra Negra and Volcan Chico (B- BL-D)

After breakfast, we start our second day of the program, going to one of the main attractions on Isabela – the volcanoes. In just a 6-hour hike, we’ll visit both the Sierra Negra Volcano and Volcan Chico. The last eruption of the Sierra Negra was in 2005, and its crater is one of the largest in the world, with a breathtaking diameter of 10km. Close by, we find Volcan Chico, which is surrounded by a volcanic floor that gives it an almost lunar landscape. In this extraordinary place, you can enjoy a great view and have your box lunch before returning to the lodge.

Day 3: Tintoreras AM and Beach PM (B-L-D)

Tintoreras is a great place to go and see many beautiful animals, like pelicans, marine iguanas, Galapagos penguins, turtles, and sea lions resting or swimming around. This group of islets features lava fissures, lava flows, sandy beaches, and mangroves all around stunning coves. It’s truly a natural paradise where we can enjoy the day. Then we return to the lodge for a delicious lunch, and in the afternoon, we’ll have beach time at Puerto Villamil, where you can do kayaking, biking, surfing, or simply resting with the view.

Day 4: Isabela – Baltra – Santa Cruz (B-L-D)

In the morning, you fly from Isabela Island to Baltra Island. Upon arrival, your naturalist guide will meet you and y help you through the arrival process. On the way to Puerto Ayora town, we will visit the Highlands and the Lava Tunnels of Santa Cruz to enjoy the fabulous and famous giant tortoises in their natural habitat; these animals of prehistoric aspect lengthen their necks to eat and be photographed by our visitors at the Archipelago. Later you will have a delicious lunch surrounded by nature.  You will continue to Puerto Ayora and later to Punta Estrada; once at the Hotel, you will have the afternoon at leisure, and dinner will be served at the hotel.

Day 5: Sailing Day Tour (B-L)

Today you will have a sailing day tour based on availability.

Bartolome Island: Bartolome is emblematic of the Galapagos with highlights like Pinnacle Rock. The lookout point is impressive, and snorkeling, you may see tropical fish, Galapagos sharks, hammerheads, and even Galapagos penguins.

North Seymour Island: This island is home to colonies of blue-footed boobies and Great frigatebirds that nest together. On the trail, you’ll encounter both land and marine iguanas and sea lions on the beach.

South Plazas: South Plazas is an uplifted island with aerial life of Frigatebirds, Masked boobies, Blue-footed boobies, Pelicans, and Red-billed Tropicbirds. The island is also home to marine iguanas and large colonies of sea lions.

Santa Fe: Santa Fe is uplifted from submarine basaltic lava and is now covered with a Giant Opuntia forest, home to the endemic Santa Fe Land Iguana and giant prickly pear, a favorite source of food for the Santa Fe Land Iguana. Activities: Boat excursion, snorkel, walk.

Return to the hotel to enjoy the facilities, go to the beachfront, or get suggestions for other activities.

Day 6: Divine Bay and Charles Darwin Research Station (B)

After breakfast, we go to Divine Bay, a gorgeous place with mangrove trees and ancient lava paths. We can discover it by boat, or if you feel more adventurous, you can take a tandem kayak. We will snorkel in a lovely spot full of marine life in the morning. Next, we’ll go to the small dock in Punta Estrada. Here, we take a short walk to “Playa de los Perros” (Dog Beach), a majestic beach where marine iguanas nest.

Additionally, there is a natural spot where young white sharks swim, and we’ll be able to see them from above. We return to the Finch Bay Hotel for lunch, and in the afternoon, we’ll go to the Charles Darwin Research Station and learn more about the giant tortoise breeding program. Once we finish here, you’ll have free time to enjoy the lively atmosphere of the town, the hotel facilities, or the beach in front of it.

Day 7: Sailing Day Tour (B-L)

Day 8: Santa Cruz – Baltra Chico (B)

After a delicious farewell breakfast, we’ll go to the Baltra airport to return to mainland Ecuador. On the way to the airport, we’ll make one last short stop at the impressive Twin Pit Craters, a geological formation made of volcanic material, surrounded by different kinds of vegetation such as orchids, Scalesia trees, and ferns. After this visit, we continue on our way to the airport, where our representative will assist you in everything you need for the flight.
