Whale Bay is the site of one of the oldest whaling camps on Santa Cruz Island. It was here that giant tortoises were brought before being loaded onto whalers and pirate ships. The semicircular beach is green in color due to a high volume of olivine crystals. The curious Galápagos hawk can also be found in this area.
