Espumilla Beach – Santiago Island
This large coffee-colored sand beach is just north of the prized freshwater source that once attracted pirates and whalers. A short inland walk leads through a mangrove forest often inhabited by common stilts and visited by sea turtles that come to nest. Beyond the mangroves lies a brackish lagoon where flocks of pink flamingos and white-cheeked pintails can be spotted. Espumilla Beach is also a favored nesting site for sea turtles and offers excellent opportunities for swimming and snorkeling.
